Recycling Kiosks

The recycling kiosk gives customers and employees an opportunity to recycle cellular devices, ink cartridges, gift cards, CDs and DVDs, and rechargeable batteries at no cost. The recycling kiosk is located in the vestibule of every Best Buy store. The material collected in the kiosk is sent to the recycler through a mail in program. Products placed in the kiosk are tested and evaluated by recycler for reuse and repair before they would be added to the recycling process.

TV Haul-Away

Best Buy will remove an old or obsolete television at no charge from a consumers’ home when a new product is purchased and is being delivered to the home by Best Buy Home Delivery or Geek Squad. All products collected through the TV Haul-Away program are tested and evaluated for reuse and repair and may be removed from the recycling process.

Service Center Repair

Offered at all Best Buy locations is a repair service for products covered by service plans or warranties. When Best Buy decides to replace consumers product in place or repairing it, the old unit is sent to our product return center where it is evaluated for repair and reuse prior to recycling.

Tech Trade In

Mail in recycling program provided through www.BestBuy.com where customers may print mailing lables at home and send unwanted or end-of-life electronics to the recycler. All products are tested and evaluated by recycler for reuse and repair before added to the recycling process.

Haul-Away Purchase

A consumer can purchase the haul-away recycling service at all Best Buy locations. This service offering is independent of additional purchases at a Best Buy store.

In Store Collection

Starting on February 15th, 2009 all U.S. Best Buy stores will accept for recycling most consumer electronics, including televisions and monitors up to 32”, computer CPUs and notebooks, small electronics, VCRs and DVD players, phones as well as accessories such as keyboards, mice and remotes.

  • A $10 recycling fee per unit will be charged for items with screens, such as televisions, laptop computers, and monitors. The consumer will instantly receive a $10 Best Buy gift card in exchange for the recycling fee. This fee does not apply for units recycled in California stores, and does not apply for any of Best Buy’s Exclusive-Branded products, such as Insignia, Dynex, and VPR Matrix.
